Optimized Nvidia Control panel by setting prefered graphics globally to my gpu which was GTX 1660 TI and setting power mode to prefer max performance, adaptive or consistent performance (didn't work but may have contributed to solution) Disabling film grain via data0 and adding a script in documents folder (didn't work but may have contributed to solution) Setting fullscreen mode in game from fullscreen to borderless ( but after switching from old town to slums and then following it happens again.) Disabling fullscreen optimizations (didn't work but may have contributed to solution)

I had tried many fixes like unchecking core 0 with task manager, disabling film grain, going for an undervolt, fresh windows install (which i did 3 times), tried removing all the msi bloatware in my laptop, modified windows to make it lighter, tried config files for dying light, contacted techland and followed their solution, but nothing worked and after making these changes my game became alot more smoother and I've faced no fps drops ever since. I was stuck with a really random gpu and cpu usage stutter for weeks since I got my new laptop and my frames were going from 100+ to 50 and 20 regardless of settings. I entered a 30 second time-out threshold.

Make sure your chipset drivers are also up to date. Network adapter, realtek audio, et cetera. Make sure all your drivers are up to date. The sad thing is, there is nothing mentioned on the AMD troubleshooting page for VGA timeouts. This is something interesting I found on nVidia's website too, you might want to read through it:

Windows contains a mechanism that monitors the display driver for possible timeouts and the default setting is 2 seconds. Guess who it was? The issue:Īpparently this is not the fault of the AMD drivers at all (well, at least technically). You get it whether you play a game or just watch a YT video. Once the command is executed, you will find “Turn on Fast Startup” option in Settings. On the Command Prompt screen, type powercfg/hibernate on and press the Enter key. Type CMD in the Search bar > right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator option. If “Turn on Fast Startup” option is missing on your computer, it is usually due to Hibernate Mode not enabled on your device. This can be easily fixed by running powercfg/hibernate on command.
